The main focus of your consulting is implementation?
Yes, that is the essential aspect of our work. In just two to four weeks of intensive analysis we can identify implementable change potential to improve productivity of between 8% and 15%. During implementation, the decisive phase of the whole collaboration, we determine in a short space of time the main areas for action and measures which we can deploy together with staff and management to exploit existing potential. Important is that we accelerate the  change  process and thus shorten the length of time it takes for the outcome of the project to become visible – as witnessed in the client’s financial and operational numbers. Time and again, our clients are pleasantly surprised that we not only fulfil but even surpass their expectations.

How do you measure improvement potential and productivity gains?
We define and measure a series of factors that are crucial to the company in question. In general, that means key indicators such as equipment effectiveness, throughput rates and costs.

We also examine factors pertinent to supply chain productivity, e.g. planning processes or interdepartmental cooperation, and define related key data such as cycle times and process costs. To assess future prospects, we quantify factors of strategic significance to our client's business model, for instance, product portfolio, customer loyalty or barriers to market entry.

How do you know that your approach works?
The effects we measure are clearly reflected in the business results. We use key metrics to demonstrate that we are achieving target objectives both during and after the project. For us, this means that we must thoroughly understand our client's business at the initial analysis stage because that is when we define the project goals that will later be used to measure its success.

What is the profit margin of your projects?
Many of our clients see our consulting fees as an investment. Therefore - and on account of tight budgets for consultancy – they are particularly concerned that the projects can pay for themselves and provide attractive returns. Whenever possible we carry out a project within a financial year on a cost-neutral basis, and design it so that the payback time is short and ROI high. In general, the projects imple-mented together with T.A. Cook achieve ROI within one year that is three, five or even ten times the amount of the original consulting fees.
